Lazarus is a native cross platform IDE for the Free Pascal compiler.
Free Pascal is a native cross platform compiler for the modern Object Pascal programming language.
Many IDE's or compilers claim that they are cross platform while in fact they are only able to run on top of 2 or 3 operating systems on very specific architectures. Such tools don't have a true cross platform ability. Lazarus as an IDE is able to run on various platforms including any flavor of Windows 32/64 bit starting from Windows 98 to Windows 7, any Linux 32/64 distribution, any version of Mac OS X 32/64 bit start from Tiger to Snow Leopard, as well as other UNIXes. Free Pascal's cross platform ability stretches out further including mobile and handheld devices like the iPhone, Windows CE, GameBoy Advance, Nintendo DS, the GameCube, and it also offers support for a number of architectures including x86 (32 and 64bits), PowerPC(32 and 64bits), ARM and Sparc.
